Our Curriculum

We offer an engaging, broad and balanced curriculum aimed at preparing students for their future journey. At the centre of this is the development of core numeracy and literacy skills which form the bedrock for learning and progress throughout all subjects. As a result we are proud to say that our English results are extremely strong and our Maths results have improved significantly over the last year. Our talented teams of teachers work together to provide the very best lessons and build foundations for learning across the curriculum. Outside of the core subjects students follow a curriculum which is diverse, interesting and engaging. Through this they can gain interest, develop knowledge and understanding and begin to love learning in many different disciplines.

Students follow the subjects below when they join us in Years 7 and 8:

Students follow a broad and balanced curriculum encompassing thirteen different subjects. Through this journey they can expect to be introduced to many different ideas, disciplines and opportunities to flourish and progress, to build skills, knowledge and experience, finding their areas of interests whilst addressing the core skills they need to be successful.

During the journey there is a clear emphasis on developing and securing the core skills in literacy and numeracy that will impact on all other learning. At Cathedral Academy there is nothing more important than providing the building blocks for success. As a result, students follow The Mastery Pathway in English and Maths.
