At Cathedral Academy, the quality of teaching and Learning remains the ‘single most important thing’ that we do and we are committed to delivering this to every child, in every lesson, throughout every day. At Cathedral Academy we plan and deliver lessons through an effective teaching and learning model called The Elements. The Elements incorporate what we hold to be the key ingredients of successful teaching and learning: Subject passion and Expertise, Pitch and Challenge, Focus and Purpose, Reflect and Respond and Questioning and Talk.
All academy staff benefit from a continuous professional development programme underpinned by The Elements. Teaching staff reflect on each element (see bookmark) when planning effective lessons that produce strong outcomes for our learners. Our students also benefit from a feedback policy that ensures that they are given timely guidance on areas of strength and development with an opportunity for them to improve and re-draft their work with purple pen.
